Tips for using the Grandhall pizza stone

Before using the baking plate for the first time, you need to clean it with detergent and warm water. You should only clean the stone with warm water. The stone must be completely dry before use.

Place the stone on a shelf in a hot oven and let it heat through. This will take around 10 minutes. While the stone is heating up, you can prepare what you are going to bake. You then place the food onto the baking plate and then put the plate in the centre of the hot stone. The heat has to come from the stone to give you a good result. The plate should not stick out over the edge as it will then take heat direct from the oven. You can also use the pizza stone without the baking plate. If you do, we recommend putting flour on the stone before baking.

Only use meat that has already been cooked on your pizza. Raw meat should not be put on the pizza as it will not have enough time to cook all the way through before the pizza has finished baking. A pizza takes 8–15 minutes to bake, depending on the size and thickness of the pizza. Once you have finished baking your food, lift the plate from the oven. Remember to use pot holders or something similar to protect your hands from the heat. Take the food from the plate before serving. Allow the stone to cool completely before taking it out of the oven. Never place the hot stone in cold water, as this could crack it.
